Mompesson House
Period Interior Project, 2018
One of the most memorable places I visited in Salisbury, England, was Mompesson House.
As soon as I saw the antique furniture placed in a quiet corner of the room, I felt a flutter of excitement — I knew I had to draw it.I illustrated each piece — from the vintage furniture and patterned carpets to the smallest decorative objects — and carefully cut them out and arranged them to recreate the scene. As I followed the delicate details of the chairs and carpets, the calm and warmth of that space came vividly back to me.
It felt as if I were quietly peeking into the lives of those who once lived there, long ago.
Through the process of sketching, coloring, cutting, and assembling, I found myself deeply immersed in the act of creating — in the feeling of art itself. Above all, preserving a moment I cherished through illustration brought me quiet joy.
